Book Review: Jack Kirby the Epic Life of the King of Comics (2020)

Jack Kirby is the single greatest comic book creator that ever lived. Period, full fuckin’ stop. You can disagree of course, and of course you would be wrong… I mean come the hell on; the dude created The Avengers, The Incredible Hulk, and most importantly to me, The X-Men, and roughly eleven-billionty others (including the genius of his New Gods work for DC, and creations for animation)… and his place in history is well-and-duly preserved, not to mention his influence on modern cinema with all of those Marvel flicks comin’ out every 15 seconds (well they were before the world temporarily turns upside down). So that brings us to Jack Kirby the Epic Life of the King of Comics; the new four-color opus from Tom Scioli (American Barbarian, G.I. Joe vs. Transformers, Go-bots, and Fantastic Four Grand Design to name a few), a genius-level creator in his own right… and one of my all-time favorite artists around today, who (not)

Stan Lee’s “Lucky Man” Coming To Shudder

Shudder, the leading subscription video on demand service for thriller, suspense, and horror has acquired all three seasons of the bold, action-packed crime thriller Stan Lee’s Lucky Man for US release, produced by Carnival Films. Based on the original idea from legendary comic book writer Stan Lee, Lucky Man is a story about luck, fate, gambling, superstition and the consequences of our actions. It follows DI Harry Clayton – a brilliant, yet troubled cop from London’s notorious Murder Squad who is also a compulsive gambler in danger of losing the thing he values most: his family. As he’s approaching rock bottom, he meets the beautiful and enigmatic Eve at a casino who gives him a mysterious bracelet that grants him with the power to control luck. But it comes at a price. I’ve always been captivated by the subject of luck, and I thought it would be fascinating to explore a character who is bestowed an immense amount of fortune,

Spider-Man’s ‘Morbius The Living Vampire’ Getting His Own Spin-off

Sony is continuing to expand the ‘Spider-Man’ universe with another spin-off. Developed under the dark of night, it has come to light that Sony is moving forward with a movie centered on ‘Morbius the Living Vampire’. The script for the film has officially been submitted to the studio and is ready to enter production. All that they are lacking is the right director, THR reports. Simply titled Morbius, the script was penned by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, who wrote Saban and Lionsgate’s Power Rangers movie. They were also behind God’s of Egypt and Dracula Untold. ‘Morbius the Living Vampire’ made his debut in ‘Spider-Man’ #101, the first issue not written by Marvel co-creator Stan Lee. He was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane. Morbius, while described as a vampire, is not one in the traditional sense. His thirst for blood is a result of experiments he conducted on himself in an attempt to cure a rare disease, but
