‘Morbius’ Hit With Another Delay

Well, boils and ghouls, we’ve got some bad news. Just ahead of its theatrical release, Sony has delayed the release of Marvel’s Morbius (again). Last announced to be opening in theaters on January 28th, Morbius will now be landing in theaters this April. Deadline is reporting that “one factor motivating the push was Sony’s huge (continuing) success with Spider-Man: No Way Home, which established itself as the highest-grossing film of 2021,” bringing in $1.37 billion at box offices and will continue to show on screens meant for Morbius. Jared Leto stars as Michael Morbius, a scientist who, while trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally transforms himself into a living vampire. Jared Leto Boards Ghost Ship Horror ‘Adrift’

Jared Leto is not wasting any time following his role in this year’s Morbius. He has now boarded the upcoming ghost ship movie Adrift, which we reported earlier this year. Now, it’s been announced that the movie has entered production. In the movie, based on the novel by Kôji Suzuki, a fishing boat discovers an abandoned yacht with a strange distress call. A deckhand agrees to take lone control of it while it’s towed into port, but soon he discovers why it is called it a “Ghost Ship.” Adrift is directed and co-written by Darren Aronofsky, who brought you Mother! and Black Swan. Luke Dawson (The Lazarus Effect, Shutter) co-wrote the script. Jason Blum is producing. After several delays, Marvel’s Morbius is finally set to open in theaters on January 28, 2022. Netflix And Sony Strike Huge Exclusive Deal That Includes ‘Morbius’

A huge deal has been struck between Netflix and Sony Home Pictures Entertainment that will give the streaming giant exclusive streaming rights to Sony’s titles after their theatrical and home releases. The amount of time between a film’s theatrical release and its Netflix premiere has yet to be announced. Marvel’s vampire movie Morbius, starring Jared Leto, is set to be the first film of the deal, with it premiering on January 21, 2022, Deadline reports. Uncharted, Where the Crawdads Sing, and Bullet Train are also part of the deal as are future Spider-Man movies. Another part of the new deal is that Netflix will be given the first pick of other Sony projects made for streaming services. If Netflix turns them down Sony will be able to shop them to other services.

Filming for Sony’s dark Spider-Man spin-off Morbius is in full swing. Thanks to star Jared Leto‘s tweet we’ve got our first glimpse of the scientist turned vampire. While we don’t see much, the tweet does let us know that there are 11 weeks of filming left to go.
