Sony has just announced that the film adaptation of Morbius has become yet another victim of the pandemic. After being hit with several delays the movie’s release date has been pushed back by nearly seven months.
Part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Morbius stars Jared Leto as Michael Morbius, a scientist who, while trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally transforms himself into a living vampire. Though disgusted by his own bloodlust, he chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life.
Tyrese Gibson stars as FBI agent Simon Stroud, Jared Harris (“The Terror”) plays Morbius’ mentor, Matt Smith (“Doctor Who”) plays the film’s villain Loxias Crown, and Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim: Uprising) is Morbius’ love interest.
Daniel Espinosa (Life) directs from the script penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless based on the Morbius character created by writer Roy Thomas which made its debut in Amazing Spider-Man #101.
Morbius sinks its fangs into theaters on October 8, 2021.
