A huge deal has been struck between Netflix and Sony Home Pictures Entertainment that will give the streaming giant exclusive streaming rights to Sony’s titles after their theatrical and home releases. The amount of time between a film’s theatrical release and its Netflix premiere has yet to be announced.
Marvel’s vampire movie Morbius, starring Jared Leto, is set to be the first film of the deal, with it premiering on January 21, 2022, Deadline reports. Uncharted, Where the Crawdads Sing, and Bullet Train are also part of the deal as are future Spider-Man movies.
Another part of the new deal is that Netflix will be given the first pick of other Sony projects made for streaming services. If Netflix turns them down Sony will be able to shop them to other services.
