Earlier today we shared the first look at Jared Leto as Morbius, but that’s not the only Morbius news we’ve got for you. Variety is now reporting that The Fate of the Furious actor Tyrese Gibson has now signed on to star as a yet to be named FBI Agent who is out to bring Morbius to justice.
Gibson joins previously announced cast members Jared Harris (“The Terror”) who plays Morbius’ mentor, Matt Smith (“Doctor Who”) a villain, and Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim: Uprising) Morbius’ love interest.
Leto stars as Michael Morbius, a scientist who, while trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally transforms himself into a living vampire. Though disgusted by his own bloodlust, he chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life.
Daniel Espinosa (Life) directs from the script penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless based on the character created by writer Roy Thomas which made his debut in Amazing Spider-Man #101.
Morbius opens in theaters on July 31, 2020.
