DVD Review: Curse of the Mayans is a Serviceable Sci-Fi Adventure

Dr. Alan Green (Steve Wilcox…who looks alarmingly like Ridley Scott) discovers a manuscript that he believes holds the key to solving the disappearance of the Mayans centuries before, which results in him hiring a team of spunky spelunkers headed by Danielle Nobel (Carla Ortiz…who thankfully looks nothing like Ridley Scott since she has a nude scene) to put that pesky parchment to the test! Well these folks bitch and moan and trek through the jungle for a long, long time before they arrive at an underwater tomb from which they unleash an evil from beyond the stars. Kicking out the positive jams; this film is extremely well shot, and features some truly beautiful locations (yup, the film makers actually filmed in Mexico, at ancient Mayan ruins) that add an immeasurable amount of production value to Curse of the Mayans. Along with those vistas comes some solid acting, and a unique (if uneven) story…but the real show stopper is the cool

While we all wait impatiently for Beetlejuice 2, there is exciting news from the world Tim Burton created. Beetlejuice is coming to Broadway! There is an advanced off-Broadway run coming to Washington DC this October. Music a lyrics are being written by Eddie Perfect who is also working on the stage version of King Kong. This classic, weird, and wonderful film will surely translate in a twisted and beautiful way onto the stage. Personally, I am extremely intrigued and excited about this news!

Funko Announces New Line Of Horror Cereal!

‘Cargo’ Trailer Teases A More Brutal Zombie Film Than The Original

Following his role in the IFC festival hit Ghost Stories, Martin Freeman plays a father desperate to find a home for his child during the zombie apocalypse in Cargo. The trailer has just arrived and it is a lot more brutal and gore-filled than the short film by the same name that it is based on. From filmmakers Yolanda Ramke and Ben Howling comes the film about, “…a father who, stranded in rural Australia in the aftermath of a violent pandemic and, infected himself, desperately seeks a new home for his infant child and a means to protect her from his own changing nature.” Anthony Hayes, Caren Pistorius, Susie Porter, Kris McQuade, Simone Landers and David Gulpilil also star. A Frozen ‘Walking Dead’ Spinoff ?

Even with “The Walking Dead’s” poppularity slipping there is talk of another spinoff. Scott Gimple, who served as showrunner for the past four seasons, who has a new title, Chief Content Officer, recently teased that more options are being discussed. Those options include more webisodes and another spinoff. Executive producer Greg Nicotero already has an idea about the spinoff he would like to see. The one thing that the comic book does great [is] when they introduce the cold weather and the winter. I had even written some webisodes that took place with a frozen zombie herd. An Interview With ‘Corbin Nash’ Actor Chris Pardal

Dancer turned actor Chis Pardal and I recently sat down to talk about his upcoming role in Ben Jagger’s vampire film Corbin Nash. Pardal stars alongside Dean Jagger, Corey Feldman, Malcolm McDowell, and Rutger Hauer in the film about a rogue police detective in search of his parents killer, a vampire. Before we dove into Corbin Nash, Chris and I talked about some of his previous roles. Horror Fuel: “The subjects of human trafficking and illegal aliens have been in the news a lot lately. Did your role in the series ‘Borderline Coyotes’ influence the way you see those subjects?” Chris Pardal: “You know, yes. It was a little bit different back then, it wasn’t in the forefront. James Wan And Roy Lee Team Up For Adaptation Of King’s ‘Tommyknockers’

James Wan, the director of The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2, is teaming up with Roy Lee, behind movies like Stephen King’s IT, for the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Tommyknockers. The two will be producing, Lee under his Vertigo banner and Wan under his company Atomic Monster. Larry Sanitsky who executive produced the 1993 Tommyknockers miniseries. The story tells of, “a town in Maine that falls under the influence of a dangerous gas from an unearthed spacecraft. The gas begins to transform the people, giving them enhanced abilities, but also making them violent and subject to an alien hive mentality. One man, thanks to a steel plate in his head, is immune to the effects and tries to stop the townspeople.” The miniseries starred Jimmy Smits and Marg Helgenberger. Check out the original trailer.

‘Sharknado’ 6 Will Be The Last Film Of The Franchise

All good things must come to an end, including Syfy’s hit Sharknado franchise, which began back in 2013. In February, we told you that the Sharknado 6 would be blowing in this July. News has come today that the sixth film will be the last for the franchise. So, you may be wondering what insanity is being planned for the final film. This time, they will be swimming in new territory, time-travel. Ian Ziering’s character, “Fin unlocks the time-traveling power of the sharknados in order to save the world and resurrect his family. In his quest, Fin fights Nazis, dinosaurs, knights, and even takes a ride on Noah’s Ark. This time, it’s not how to stop the sharknados, it’s when.” Tara Reid, Cassie Scerbo, and Vivica A. Margot Robbie Seeks Revenge In The Trailer For ‘Terminal’

RLJE Films has just unveiled the trailer for Terminal, the noir revenge-thriller from Vaughn Stein. The film stars Academy Award-nominated actress Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad), Simon Peg (Shaun of the Dead), Max Irons (The White Queen), Mike Myers (Austin Powers), and Dexter Fletcher (Kick Ass). “In the dark heart of a sprawling, anonymous city, Terminal follows the twisting tales of two assassins carrying out a sinister mission, a teacher battling a fatal illness, an enigmatic janitor and a curious waitress leading a dangerous double life. Murderous consequences unravel in the dead of night as their lives all intertwine at the hands of a mysterious criminal mastermind hell-bent on revenge.” Robbie produced alongside Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara under the duo’s LuckyChap Entertainment banner, David Barron of BeaglePug, Highland Film Group’s Arianne Fraser, Molly Hassell, and Teun Hilte.
