Spoiler Free First Impression Of AMC’s ‘The Terror’

With its waining popularity, it’s safe to say that The Walking Dead now has competition, The Terror, the new series based on the novel written by Dan Simmons of the same name. The book, as well as the new series, is a fictionalized account of the infamous Franklin’s Lost Expedition The show’s two-hour premiere with the episodes Go for Broke and Gore. The series is being produced by Scott Free Productions which explains the better production quality over AMC’s other series, The Walking Dead. I’m keeping my impressions spoiler free because I feel that if anyone’s interested in watching this show should do so and judge for themselves, with that here’s my first impression. First off, some are criticizing the premiere as being a bit “slow” but any sailor will tell you, it’s the calm before the storm. The key thing this show is doing is telling a story of the two ships The Terror and Erebus stuck in the

Retro Slasher ‘Splatter Camp’ Heading To Camp Crystal Lake

The upcoming throwback slasher flick Slatter Camp is heading to Friday the 13th’s Camp Crystal Lake, sort of. Every film in the Friday the 13th franchise may be tied to the same camp but in reality, they were all filmed in different locations. Jason Lives was actually filmed at Georgia’s Camp Daniel Morgan, 30 years later a new film is headed to the camp. Brandon Tobatto’s Splatter Camp is currently running a campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds for his homage to 80’s slashers filmed at Camp Daniel Morgan. “Splatter Camp is a full-length feature film that tells the story of a group of young filmmakers who, while filming a documentary at the long since closed CAMP CANDY, discover that the legend of SCARY LARRY may be more than just fiction when a string of murders start picking them off, one-by-one. Things only worsen for the survivors when distrust begins to tear them apart, for how could Scary Larry be

Movie Review: The Twilight People is an Obscure Creature Feature you Need to See!

A diver named Matt (played by John Ashley and his sideburns) is brought aboard a ship and kidnapped by it’s crew, led by the Aryan Steinman (played by Jan Merlin and his horribly dyed hair), to a remote island where a Doctor (Charles Macaulay, who you cats would know as Dracula from William Crain’s classic Blacula) is performing bizarre experiments to turn beasts into men (now before you scream “This is a rip-off of The Island of Dr. Moreau!”, let me tell you that this film is blazingly original as the doctor here is named “Gordon”). Anyway, ol’ Dr. G tells Matty that he personally selected him to become a super-being, which leaves our hero unimpressed, so he decides to escape from this island hell. Lucky for him, the Doctor’s gorgeous daughter Neva (Pat Woodell) decides to help him along with the off-the-wall manimals locked in the doc’s dungeon basement…and with that back-up what could possibly go wrong? As derivative

The Apocalypse Begins In The Trailer For Netflix’s ‘The Rain’

Move over “The Walking Dead”, there’s a new apocalypse series coming to town. Netflix’s new series “The Rain”, from creator Jannik Tai Mosholt, has just released its first trailer and it looks amazing. If 28 Days Later and The Girl With All the Gifts had a baby, it’s name would be “The Rain”. Alba August, Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, and Lars Simonsen star. The series, “picks up six years after a brutal virus carried by rain wiped out almost all humans in Scandinavia, and follows two Danish siblings as they emerge from the safety of their bunker to find all remnants of civilization gone and very few survivors. Set free from their collective past and societal rules, the group set out on a danger-filled quest through abandoned Scandinavia, searching for any sign of life. However, the task is complicated when tensions in the group start to rise as the rain pours in.” “The Rain” premieres on Netflix on

‘The Meg’ Trailer Announced With New Photo

One of this year’s most highly-anticipated films is Jon Turteltaub’s The Meg, based on the novel series by Steve Alten. It’s about a Megalodon, a giant prehistoric shark, what’s not to love? In the film, “A deep-sea submersible—part of an international undersea observation program—has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific…with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep-sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew—and the ocean itself—from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that years before, Taylor had encountered this

Movie Review: Ghoul School is a Gloriously Absurd Fright Flick Experience!

Steve and Jeff, a couple of hard-luck horror hound losers that attend a high school that has to be down the street from Nuke ‘Em High, find their very existence turned upside down when some thugs accost the school’s janitor looking for some…some…I’m not sure they say exactly…and push a mysterious button that releases deadly toxins into the school’s water supply that turns the student body (more specifically the swim team) into flesh-eating, blue skinned, razor toothed monsters! Along the way, Joe Franklin (ask your grandparents kids) and Jackie “The Jokeman” Martling (ask your parents kids) show up for no reason (well Jackie showed up to throw his merch all over every nook and cranny of the scenery), extreme gore splashes across the screen, hard rockin’ ensues, lines are flubbed, and our “heroes” attempt to save the day! Low budget, low brow, and gloriously absurd, Ghoul School is a whole heap of fright flick fun! There are plenty of ridiculous
