Daniel XIII; the result of an arcane ritual involving a King Diamond album, a box of Count Chocula, and a copy of Swank magazine, is a screenwriter, director, producer, actor, artist, and reviewer of fright flicks…Who hates ya baby?

After a truly impressive opening of a car winding through secluded mountain roads viewed from above (think Kubrick, but doubtless shot utilizing a drone for a mere fraction of the cost of a helicopter…but damn does it look great), the story proper of Evolution of Evil gets underway; to wit: a young couple (maybe they are just friends…damned if I could tell), named Christopher and Lori for those of you keeping score at home, treks out to the middle of nowhere to get away from it all, and everything is artisanal beer and bratwurst until the silence of the night is split by distant gunshots. Well the following morning things go from pleasant to poopy as Chris is abducted (I know, right?!!) by some seriously fucked up woodsmen and subjected to all manner of rape and abuse (again, right?!!). Meanwhile Lori wanders the woods in a daze before being picked up by one of our batshit antagonists. What follows is a twisted nightmare you just gotta see!
To kick off the love fest part of our programming; the dialog between  Erin McGarry as Lori, and Michael Draper as Christopher is so natural and banal (before the shit hits the fan at the end of Act 1) that it seems like it wasn’t scripted at all…seriously my fiends, these are some top shelf actors in my beastly book! Speaking of scripted, the screenplay for this is one seriously nasty (that bathtub scene isn’t leaving my mind anytime soon), paradigm shifting, masterpiece of fright flick fiction; it takes everything you expect from the psychos in the woods concept and twists and distorts it to offer nothing short of a full on breath of fresh fucked up air right into our gobsmacked horror hound pie-holes! Additionally, the film makers shot the shit out of this; everything from the locations and sets, to the amazing camera angles are gorgeous (which stands in sharp contrast to the horror at hand).
As for negatives…fuck that noise; this one was done right!
Disturbing, disgusting, and totally unique and fearless, Evolution of Evil is a fright flick that deserves to become a full on cult mother fuckin’ classic! See this one immediately my faithful fiends!
