Sony is taking horror fans back to school with the first trailer from the horror-comedy Slaughterhouse Rulez, starring Shaun of the Dead duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
Set in an illustrious British boarding school, the institution becomes a bloody battleground when a sinkhole appears at a nearby fracking site unleashing unspeakable horrors.
‘Peaky Blinders’ star Finn Cole plays the role of Don Wallace, a new boy in school who comes from a modest background. Don is forced to navigate a baffling new world filled with arcane rules and rituals.
Asa Butterfield (Hugo), Hermione Corfield (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies), and Underworld actor Michael Sheen star along with Pegg and Frost in the film from writer-director Crispian Mills. Henry Fitzherbert co-wrote the script.
“Welcome to Slaughterhouse, an elite boarding school where boys and girls are groomed for power and greatness…and they’re about to meet their match. This ancient and ordered world is about to be shaken to its foundations – literally – when a controversial frack site on prized school woodland causes seismic tremors, a mysterious sinkhole, and an unspeakable horror to be unleashed. Soon a new pecking order will be established as the pupils and teachers alike become locked in a bloody battle for survival…“
Both Pegg and Frost will serve as executive producers for the film that is the first under the banner of their new production company, Stolen Picture. Sony’s Josephine Rose is also executive producing the project. Charlotte Walls of Catalyst Global Media is serving as a producer.
Slaughterhouse Rulez is set to open in UK theaters this October. There is no word yet when it will arrive in the US.
