Daedalic Entertainment gave me access to their newly released sci-fi thriller, “State of Mind” that is out now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game takes place in Berlin where the year is 2045 and Earth’s health is declining.

Technology is changing people’s lives for better and worse resulting in the rise of a terrorist group known as Breakpoint who are against the latest in technological advancements, especially with humanity’s reliance on drone, and robotic tech.

DEY TERK ER JERBS!

The story of “State of Mind” is seen through the eyes of people from two dramatically different ends of the social spectrum, those who live in Berlin and those who live in the utopian city known as City 5.

The first thing that stood out for me is the visual style of the game, for being low-poly, it’s beautiful! The scenery is absolutely stunning and visually appealing, reminding me of “Blade Runner” and the overall tone also reminding me of “I, Robot” and “Deus Ex: Human Revolution”.

The gameplay relies more on exploration and interaction with characters and the environment rather than run-and-gun, stealth, and combat mechanics rendering the game is more like an interactive story, and an amazing one at that!

There’s a mystery to be solved and five playable characters to help you solve it, the future is how you make it and this artistic masterpiece get’s 4.5 stars out of 5!
