‘Grudge’ Remake To Open On New Date

Sony has moved up the theatrical release of Grudge, from The Eyes of My Mother director Nicolas Pesce, will now open 2 months ahead of its original release date.
The cast has some serious horror cred including Insidious actress Lin Shaye, The Nun‘s Demian Bichir, and John Cho who led season 2 of “The Exorcist.” Andrea Riseborough, Betty Gilpin (“Glow”), William Sadler (The Mist), Jacki Weaver, and Frankie Faison also star.
The script, penned by Jeff Buhler who is also behind Pet Sematary and Midnight Meat Train, is a new take on the 2004 American remake of Japan’s Ju-on (2002).
The new film is the twelfth for the franchise that also includes two short films, several graphic novels, and a video game.
 

 
Evil Dead‘s Sami Raimi and Robert Tapert are producing with Roy Lee (IT) executive producing.
Grudge has already begun filming and its first images have been released. The film will open in theaters nationwide on June 21, 2019.
