Remember The Banana Splits? They are no longer “family friendly”, in fact, they look downright demented in the first trailer for a new horror movie simply titled as The Banana Splits Movie. The movie, from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and Syfy makes it’s debut on Digital August 13th
and on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD August 27th, is R-rated for “horror violence and gore.”
In the movie, “a boy named Harley and his family attend a taping of The Banana Splits TV show, which is supposed to be a fun-filled birthday for young Harley and business as usual for Rebecca, the producer of the series. But things take an unexpected turn – and the body count quickly rises. Can Harley, his mom, and their new pals safely escape?”
Dani Kind (Wynonna Earp), Finlay Wojtak-Hissong (The Kindness of Strangers), Romeo Carere, Steve Lund (Schitt’s Creek), and Sara Canning (“The Vampire Diaries”) star. Danishka Esterhazy (Level 16) is in the director’s chair.
Blue Ribbon Content is producing in association with Warner Bros. and Syfy.
The characters, a lion, a beagle, a gorilla, and an elephant, were created by the Krofft Brothers for Hanna-Barbera. Originally introduced back in 1968, the series featured 31 episodes and ran for two seasons.
