Daniel XIII; the result of an arcane ritual involving a King Diamond album, a box of Count Chocula, and a copy of Swank magazine, is a screenwriter, actor, artist, and reviewer of fright flicks…Who hates ya baby?

The Debunkers; amateur detectives, video game enthusiasts, eternal virgins… okay, I made that last bit up, but it can be inferred with a large probability of being true… wait, where was I? Oh yeah, The Debunkers; Link (Josh Pinkowski), Snake (Izzy Pollak) and Dr. Mario (Blake Kevin Dwyer)… along with new recruit, Canadian foreign exchange student Shiek (Nicole DuBois) are the premier mystery debunking business in their town, a town that doesn’t exactly seem like it would be a hotbed of mysteries which makes their profit margin rather low I’d wager. Of course that all changes when two desperate girls, Heather and Joyce by name, come a-knocking with a real puzzler… figuring out who put the murder biz on their gal pal Nina. With a murderer around, The Debunkers will surely die… the end… okay, maybe they will prevail and become true heroes… but my money is on their demise.

Look, I’ll lay it on the line here, Debunkers Inc. was a fun lil’ family flick with some horror overtones tossed into the mix, and I think it succeeds at what it sets out to do; namely entertain the kiddos while givin’ them a chill or two. Adding to the positives, the characters are well-defined, if a little on the “tropish” side of the spectrum, and the actors do a solid job making them a likable bunch of protagonists… and if nothing else, director/co-writer (along with Ryan Andrews) Matt Thompson has a shit-ton of heart and earnestness about the material he is presenting, which as I always say is worth it’s weight in gold in generating a sense of good-will towards a flick.

On the downside, this is not a billion dollar Hollywood production, so you cats n’ creeps can bet your arcane asses that things are a bit rough around the edges and some seems show production-wise… but it is far from amateur hour by any means.

To put a beastly bow on it; if your kids dig on Spy Kids and Scooby Doo, they will probably get a real kick out of Debunkers, Inc., and if you are willing to not take things very seriously your old asses may enjoy it too!
