A new version of The Invisible Woman, is currently in development over at Universal Pictures with Elizabeth Banks (Brightburn) set to direct and star. Banks pitched the film based on Universal’s original The Invisible Woman, released in 1940, which starred Virginia Bruce. She will also be serving as a producer alongside her husband Max Handleman under their Brownstone Productions banner.

There is no word if The Invisible woman will be a remake, reboot, or something entirely new. The original film centers on “an attractive model with an ulterior motive volunteer as a guinea pig for an invisibility machine.”

News about the project comes three months ahead of the premiere of Universal and Blumhouse’s The Invisible Man, starring Elizabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”). The Invisible Man arrives in theaters on February 28, 2020.
