Fede Alvarez has been teasing a sequel to his 2016 home invasion hit Don’t Breathe for a while. This week the sequel has been given the green light to begin production, THR is reporting.
Alverez will not be directing, Rodo Sayagues will be. The film is in good hands though Sayagues is not only the co-writer of Don’t Breathe, he also co-wrote Alverez’s Evil Dead reboot. The two penned the Don’t Breathe sequel together as well.
Stephen Lang will be back to reprise his role as the badass blind man from the first film.
“Don’t Breathe 2 is set several years after the home invasion of the first movie, with the Blind Man living in quiet solace…until his past sins catch up to him.”
Production is set to begin in April with Alvarez producing alongside Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert of Ghost House Pictures.
Don’t Breathe follows three friends who break into a blind man’s home hoping for an easy score. What they didn’t prepare for is that the man is a total badass. Jane Levy’s character Rocky is the only survivor. There is no word yet if she will be returning.
