Daniel XIII; the result of an arcane ritual involving a King Diamond album, a box of Count Chocula, and a copy of Swank magazine, is a screenwriter, director, producer, actor, artist, and reviewer of fright flicks…Who hates ya baby?

While getting his fuck on with a comely injured hitchhiker, a dairy delivery dude has his milk cargo sabotaged by a mystery man on a motorcycle. The poison milk begins to kill young women (one of which apparently has a habit of eating breakfast with her mother while wearing see-thru lingerie as so many of us do), but we soon discover that the murder biz wasn’t intended by those behind the poisoning, who had hoped for mere “gut-wrenching illness” instead.

Simultaneously, a German owned company (whom all of the poisoned girls worked for) is paying cash-money to have their toxic runoff dumped in a nearby cemetery, which naturally resurrects those aforementioned poison victims… and these zombie gals are hellbent for revenge let me tell ya… well after gingerly walking through the graveyard trying not to fall on their collective asses as gobs of manufactured smoke makes every step a hazard that is…

And what a revenge it is, as our trio of terror dispatch those that are kinda/sorta tangentially related to their deaths in various and sundry ultra-gory ways.

Let me start this off by saying Revenge of the Living Dead Girls is my kind of film; it’s delightfully sleazy, filled with practical effects, and loaded with ludicrous concepts and dialog (at least in the dubbed version I watched for this review… the original French language track is present here as well).

Sure the seams show, especially in regards to the titular antagonists (three rather awesome masks, and one hand appliance is all she wrote in bringing these zombies to (un)life), but damn it, there is an earnestness in this craziness that makes it irresistible for connoisseurs of low-budget fright flicks such as your’s cruelly.

So where did those bucks that were saved in other departments go? Well, they definitely spent some cash on the deaths as we get evisceration, a stiletto through the eye, a castration via zombie blow job, and a naked zombie lesbian tryst that ends with a sword in the vag… and more! It’s all gloriously gooey, often wrong as balls, and the highlight of the film.

This being a French fright flick you can bet demons to donuts that the filmmakers also get a ton of mileage out of another free of charge item; loads of naked female flesh; a tried and true method of keeping asses in seats if ever there was one!

Along with all of that insanity mentioned above, the fine fiends at Severin have also included a few bonus features on this Blu-ray release as well including: archival interviews with special FX artist Benoit Lestang (as well as a tour of his workshop) and writer/producer Jean-Claude Roy, a new chat with director Pierre B. Reinhard, and the film’s theatrical trailer.

Revenge of the Living Dead Girls is a whirling demonic dervish of babes, blood, and bad taste that is sure to satisfy horror hounds lookin’ to take ‘er sleazy!
