Back last March, we reported that Blumhosue was working on a new version of The Craft. Today, we can tell you that the official title is The Craft: Legacy and that the movie is actually a sequel, not a reboot (thank god). To top it all off, the trailer is also here, introducing us to the new witches!
Legacy is a continuation of the cult hit The Craft (1996), in which an eclectic foursome of aspiring teenage witches get more than they bargained for as they lean into their newfound powers. Written and directed by Zoe Lister-Jones, the film stars Cailee Spaeny (Bad Times at the El Royale, On the Basis of Sex), Gideon Adlon (The Society, Blockers, The Mustang), Lovie Simone (Selah & the Spades, Greenleaf), Zoey Luna (Pose, Boundless), and Nicholas Galitzine (Cinderella), with Michelle Monaghan and David Duchovny.
Zoe Lister-Jones is writing, directing, and executive producing. Jason Blum is producing for Blumhouse. Academy Award-winning producer Douglas Wick (who also produced the original film) and Lucy Fisher are producing for Red Wagon Entertainment. Executive producing are Andrew Fleming, who directed and co-wrote the original film; Lucas Wiesendanger, from Red Wagon Entertainment; Daniel Bekerman; Beatriz Sequeira, Jeanette Volturno, and Couper Samuelson for Blumhouse; and Natalia Anderson.
The Craft: Legacy will bypass theaters and head straight to home release on October 28, 2020.
