We’ve got good news and bad news for the upcoming Paranormal Activity installment. Let’s go ahead and get the bad news out of the way first.
The pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the film industry causing movie release dates to shift. News recently came that the movie would be going straight to Paramount+ this March. Now, Paramount has pulled the title from their release calendar which could mean either the film won’t be getting a theatrical release, or that it will be delayed. We are guessing that it will be delayed.
Here’s the good news, the cast has just been announced. The Wrap is reporting that Emily Bader, Dan Lippert, Buck III, and Henry Ayres-Brown will star in the movie which has already begun filming. Freaky and Happy Death Day‘s Christopher Landon is behind the script. Landon is a Paranormal Activity veteran, haven written the second, third, and fourth films along with Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. Underwater‘s William Eubank is in the director’s chair. Paranormal Activity‘s Oren Peli and Jason Blum are producing.
The new installment of the franchise, which began in 2007, is being described as “an unexpected retooling” and will continue its tradition of found footage.
We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, you can watch the Paranormal Activity franchise now on Paramount+. Sign up now for a free 7-day trial or for a monthly membership for $5.99. The franchise is also streaming on Prime.
