In 2019’s Escape Room we watched as a group of strangers has to team up to survive and escape a deadly series of rooms. The sequel was announced soon after the film premiered and today, we’ve finally got its new release date and a title. Escape Room: Tournament of Champions has had a couple of release dates so far, last set to premiere in theaters in January 2022, it has now been moved up to July 16, 2021.
Only two players from the first film survived, Taylor Russell‘s Zoey and Logan Miller‘s Ben and both are back to reprise their roles. Thomas Cocquerel, Indya Moore, Holland Roden, and Carlito Olivero will also star. Adam Robitel, who directed the first film is back in the director’s chair for Tournament of Champions.
In the sequel, “six people unwittingly find themselves locked in another series of escape rooms, slowly uncovering what they have in common to survive. Joining forces with two of the original survivors, they soon discover they’ve all played the game before.”
