Disney+ has finally conjured the long-awaited sequel to Hocus Pocus. Ahead of its release later this month, a second trailer has been unleashed giving us a glimpse of the Sanderson sister’s back story.
It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century Sanderson sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the wicked witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.
The original Sanderson sisters, Bette Midler (Winifred), Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah), and Kathy Njimy (Mary) are all returning as is Doug Jones who plays Winifred’s ex, Billy. They will be joined by The Tomorrow War actor Sam Richardson, Whitney Peak (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”), Belissa Escobedo (“American Horror Stories”), Lila Buckingham (“Crown Lake”), and Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”). Anne Fletcher (Dumplin’, The Proposal) directs from the script by Jen D’Angelo.
Hocus Pocus 2 will cast its spell on Disney+ subscribers on September 30, 2022.
