Fans have been eagerly awaiting the third season of Netflix’s “The Witcher.” Netflix made a series of announcements during Tudum 2022, including about the upcoming third season and the new spin-off series.
“The Witcher” season 3 is set to premiere in the summer of 2023 with Henry Cavill (Geralt of Rivia), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer of Vengerberg), and Freya Allan (Princess Cirilla of Cintra) all returning. Robbie Amell has joined the cast.
This season, “As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.”
That’s not all the news that was shared during the event. Netflix also announced that the prequel series “The Witcher: Blood Origin” will debut this December.
Set 1200 years before the world of “The Witcher,” we will witness the birth of the first Witcher and the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves became one.
Laurence O’Fuarain (“Game of Thrones”), Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), and Sophia Brown (“The Capture”) lead the cast.
