Last year, it was announced that Keanu Reeves is returning to play John Constantine in Constantine 2, much to fans’ delight.
James Gunn and Peter Safran have plans to restructure the DC Universe, so where does that leave DC Constantine 2? Is it still happening? The answer is yes! A spokesperson for Warner Bros. confirmed to EW today that the sequel is still on its way.
Francis Lawrence is returning to direct the sequel written by Akiva Goldsman, who is also producing under his Weed Road Pictures banner. Bad Robots’ J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella will also produce.
“Reeves will reprise his role as supernatural exorcist and demonologist John Constantine, who in the original is dying but stays around to save his soul by keeping demons from hell from breaching earth. He also gets between a battle between the archangel Gabriel and Lucifer.”
When Constantine was released in 2005, it quickly gained fans. I mean, this is Keanu Reeves we’re talking about. With Reeves’ popularity skyrocketing thanks to his role in the hit franchise John Wick, it’s no surprise that DC wants him back. Plus, fans have been begging for a sequel for years. Now, the question is, when will the sequel arrive?
