Back in 1996, Twister hit the scene, raking in over $495 million at box offices. Now, the big-screen sequel, simply titled Twisters, is headed your way from Universal Pictures.
In the original film, Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton starred as storm chasers on the brink of divorce. They must join together to create an advanced weather alert system by putting themselves in the cross-hairs of extremely violent tornadoes. This time, the movie will center on their daughter, played by Daisy Edgar-Jones (Fresh).
Lee Isaac Chung (Minari) will be in the director’s chair for Twisters, written by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) and produced by Frank Marshall (Jurassic World: Dominion). There is no word yet if Hunt will return.
Twisters will land in theaters nationwide on July 19, 2024. Here’s a look back at the original movie’s trailer.
