On December 1, the global streaming sensation “Sweet Home,” directed by Lee Eung-bok and Park So-hyeon, will return for its second season on Netflix. Ahead of its much-awaited premiere, fans can dive deeper into the action and check out creators Kim Carnby and Hwang Young-chan’s digital comic – the source material behind the series– in full on WEBTOON.

Season one of the Netflix adaptation of “Sweet Home” was a runaway hit with fans and critics when it premiered on Netflix in December 2020, reaching No. 1 in eight global regions and entering the Top 10 in more than 40 countries. The series was one of the first WEBTOON-adapted hits on Netflix, including “All of Us Are Dead” and “Hellbound,” making waves as the first South Korean title to enter Netflix’s Top 10 in the United States ahead of the premiere of other hits include “Squid Game” which will be getting a second season.

Before it became a megahit streaming series, “Sweet Home” started as a popular digital comic on WEBTOON created by Kim Carnby and Hwang Young-chan. The series follows a reclusive high school student who is forced to leave his home after an unexpected family tragedy only to face something much scarier: a reality where monsters are trying to wipe out humanity. The webcomic has over 1.3 billion views globally on WEBTOON, and fans can access all 140 episodes of the original webcomic exclusively on WEBTOON before watching the new season on Netflix.

The “Sweet Home” webcomic became available to WEBTOON readers in the U.S. in 2018 after debuting in Korea in 2017. Notably, the Netflix adaptation of “Sweet Home” is co-produced by WEBTOON’s Studio N, alongside Studio Dragon. WEBTOON subsidiary Studio N produces stories from the WEBTOON library for TV and film; the studio has produced Netflix hits like “Bloodhounds” and “See You in My 19th Life,” as well as Disney+’s latest K-drama, “Vigilante,” among many others.

With 182 million monthly active users, WEBTOON Entertainment’s family of aligned IP and platform brands include WEBTOON, Wattpad–the world’s leading webnovel platform–Wattpad WEBTOON Studios, StudioN, Studio Lico, WEBTOON Unscrolled, LINE Manga, eBook Initiative Japan, and Yonder, among others.

Ahead of the second season’s premiere on December 1, 2023, “Sweet Home” has already been renewed for a third season on Netflix, and we’re super excited about it. It’s a killer, action-packed series!
