Back in 2022, a Friday the 13th prequel TV series called “Crystal Lake was announced. However, with no premiere date announced, slasher fans have since been wondering when and if they will see the series.

In August of 2024, Deadline reported that Kane took over as showrunner of the “Crystal Lake” series after “Hannibal” showrunner Bryan Fuller left in May 2024 and said, “A24 has elected to go a different way with the material.” Kane is now writing, directing, and executive producing the show.

Recently, Brad Caleb Kane, the showrunner for “Welcome to Derry,” gave a brief update on the series’ current state.

“scripts have been and are being written,” which is definitely good news. Kane continued, “Wish I could give a more substantial update, but mum’s the word. Suffice it to say the story’s been broken, scripts have been and are being written, and the goal is to give the fans (including myself) a tense, scary, bloody, and satisfying ride that’s well worth the wait. More news to come in the new year. Unless, y’know… we’re all doomed.“

Crystal Lake” has already found a home on Peacock. Hopefully, the new year will bring an update, an announced release date, and a trailer. We’ll have to wait and see, but based on what Kane said, it feels like there’s still hope for the series.
