If you thought the “City of Light” was all about romance and croissants, think again. Wednesday Addams is bringing her signature monochromatic misery to France, and Netflix has just dropped a first-look image to prove that “Joie de Vivre” is officially dead on arrival.

In the first photo from Season 3, Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) stands before the Eiffel Tower, looking as unimpressed as a goth in a glitter factory. Perched on a motorcycle beside her is Thing (Victor Dorobantu), likely checking the GPS for the nearest catacomb.

The Hunt for the Howl

Season 2 left us on a literal cliffhanger. Wednesday and Thing rode off into the sunset (or, more likely, a thick fog) in Uncle Fester’s (Fred Armisen) sidecar. Their mission? Finding Enid (Emma Myers), who is currently stuck in her werewolf form and wandering the wilderness.

Netflix is keeping the official script under lock and key. However, the Paris backdrop suggests that Enid’s wolf-walkabout may have taken her across the Atlantic. Or perhaps Wednesday just heard the French pioneered the “guillotine” and wanted to pay her respects.

 A Cast to Die For

Production for the third installment officially kicked off in February, and the call sheet is starting to look like a “who’s who” of gothic royalty. Joining the fray is Eva Green, stepping into the role of Aunt Ophelia (a match made in spooky heaven). She’s joined by Winona Ryder, Lena Headey, and Andrew McCarthy, who join the cast in top-secret roles. Chris Sarandon (the voice of Jack Skellington himself) and James Lance also jump aboard. The family is back together, Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones return as the world’s most affectionate parents, plus Joanna Lumley as the fabulous Grandmama.

 Behind the Black Veil

Tim Burton remains at the helm to direct, with showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar ensuring the dialogue stays as sharp as Wednesday’s knives.

Whether she’s hunting a werewolf or just haunting the Louver, one Thing is certain: Wednesday is going to make Paris look a whole lot gloomier. And frankly, we wouldn’t have it any other way. Au revoir, sunshine!
