We still don’t have an official date for when we can head back to summer camp, but the waters of Peacock’s upcoming Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake,” are looking clearer than ever.

Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane (IT: Welcome to Derry) took to Instagram this week to drop a status update that’s music to any horror fan’s ears—literally.

“All 8 episode final mixes are done and dusted,” Kane shared. “Which means Coltrane and red wine in a janky air b&b glass. Here’s to teevee!!!!”

What “Done and Dusted” Actually Means

In the world of television production, “final mixes” is industry-speak for: The hard part is over. The picture is locked, the scares are timed, and the audio (including, we assume, some iconic ki-ki-ki, ma-ma-ma action) has been finalized. “Crystal Lake” is officially in the home stretch of post-production. While we are still waiting for Peacock to drop a trailer, the series is expected to haunt our screens later in 2026.

The Ticking Clock: There is one final Friday the 13th looming on the calendar this November. Could that be the day the mask—or in this case, the sweater—finally returns?

Meet the Campers (And One Very Protective Mom)

This isn’t just another slasher; it’s a deep dive into the origin of the world’s most famous hockey-mask enthusiast. Linda Cardellini takes on the legendary role of Pamela Voorhees. This version of Pamela is a woman who traded a potential singing career for a life dedicated to her special-needs son, Jason—a path that takes a sharp, bloody turn after his tragic “accident.” The young Jason is played by Callum Vinson (Chucky). The cast is packed with talent, including William Catlett (Abigail), Cameron Scoggins (Nashville), and Christopher Denham (Shining Girls).

The Creative Team

Peacock isn’t playing around with the visuals for this eight-episode run. They’ve assembled a diverse group of directors to bring the lake to life. That includes Michael Lennox (Derry Girls), Celine Held and Logan George (Caddo Lake), and Quyen Tran (The Pitt).

Stay tuned, folks. It’s only a matter of time before someone makes the mistake of going for a midnight swim in “Crystal Lake.”
