Set deep within a secluded religious enclave, the film introduces us to the Pastor, a charismatic figure who holds sway over his congregation with fervent sermons and unwavering pronouncements of “The Truth.” However, dark secrets simmer beneath the veneer of piety and devotion, threatening to shatter the community’s fragile facade.
At the heart of the story is Magpie, The Pastor’s daughter, a woman trapped in a cycle of abuse at the hands of her husband. Driven to desperation, Magpie takes a drastic and irreversible action, ending her husband’s life in the depths of the surrounding forest. Little does she know that her defiance will unleash a malevolent force, a mysterious and terrifying beast with hauntingly shimmering white eyes.
However, as the days become weeks, the community is consumed by suspicion and paranoia, with accusatory whispers directed toward Magpie. The Pastor fights to salvage his daughter’s dwindling faith and bring her back into the fold of “The Truth.” He finds himself battling her growing rebellion against his hypocrisy. Faith, once the bedrock of their lives, now hangs precariously in the balance.
