It was previously reported that Susanne Bier (Bird Box) will helm Practical Magic 2. The original 1998 film is based on Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel. It introduced us to Sally and Gillian Owens, two witch sisters raised by their aunts.
Given the source material, it’s a safe bet that Practical Magic 2 will draw inspiration from a later installment in Alice Hoffman’s “Practical Magic” book series and explore the rich mythology and enduring bonds of the Owens family.
A Beloved Classic
The original Practical Magic charmed its way into theaters just in time for Halloween in 1998, casting a spell on audiences. It has earned a devoted cult following that has championed a sequel for nearly three decades.
Akiva Goldsman, the talented writer who co-penned the original Practical Magic, is returning to weave his spell on the screenplay for the sequel. Bullock and Kidman are also on board as producers, alongside the returning producer Denise Di Novi.
