The wildly popular novel The Housemaid by Freida McFadden is officially making the jump to the big screen. Today, we’ve got a brand-new sneak peek featurette, which promises a deeply unnerving cinematic experience.
The film follows Millie, a young woman seeking a fresh start. She accepts a position as a live-in housemaid for a wealthy, picture-perfect couple, Nina and Andrew. It doesn’t take long, however, for Millie to realize that her new, glamorous employers are hiding terrifying secrets far more dangerous than anything she’s trying to escape.
The Housemaid boasts a stacked cast of familiar faces, guaranteeing a thrilling ride. The list includes Sydney Sweeney (“Euphoria”) as the lead, Millie, and Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia!) as the enigmatic Nina. Brandon Sklenar (Midway) stars as the charming, yet unsettling, Andrew.
Directing the feature is Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, “Freaks and Geeks”), who promises the film will be a “sexy and surprising rollercoaster ride.” Feig assures audiences it’s “pure entertainment” and the kind of movie they will want to watch again and again to catch every subtle clue. The screenplay was adapted by Rebecca Sonnenshine (“The Boys”), ensuring a sharp, nail-biting, and twist-filled narrative.
According to star Amanda Seyfried, the film “captures everything fans loved about the book—secrets, tension, and twists.” With its potent blend of psychological tension, shocking revelations, and A-list talent, The Housemaid is shaping up to be the perfect cinematic treat this holiday season.
