If you are a martial arts purist who has been begging for an old-school, bone-crunching action film, one that values high-velocity practical stunt work just as much as it values emotional stakes, your summer salvation has officially arrived. The Furious is locked and loaded to smash its way into theaters this week on June 12, 2026! So, to celebrate what is on track to be the undisputed martial arts movie of the summer, we sat down for an exclusive chat with the film’s star, Xie Miao.

The Story

The narrative framework of The Furious is a beautiful, no-nonsense vehicle designed entirely for maximum cinematic carnage.

Wang (Xie Miao), a father, witnesses his young daughter being snatched off the street by a human trafficking ring. However, the corrupt local authorities offer absolutely zero help. Refusing to let his daughter become a statistic, Wang decides to tear the criminal underworld apart piece by piece.

Along his path of absolute destruction, he crosses paths with Navin (Joe Taslim). He’s a relentless journalist whose wife mysteriously vanished into the same trafficking network. Fueled by raw, righteous fury, this unlikely duo forms a lethal, unstoppable alliance. Their goal? To break every bone, clear every room, and leave an absolute stack of bodies in their wake until their families are safe.

The henchmen don’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell of slowing these two men down. And that elite precision is no accident. The Furious is steered by legendary director and visionary action choreographer and director Kenji Tanigaki and produced by the iconic Bill Kong (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).

A Master at Work

As for one of our leading men, Xie Miao is a verified martial arts master with a legendary pedigree in the genre. Fans will instantly recognize him from his career-defining work in classics like The New Legend of Shaolin and My Father is a Hero. He’s also given powerhouse performances in Blade of Fury and the upcoming sequel, Fight Against Evil 3.

Xie brings a rare, lethal combination of genuine, world-class fighting talent and deeply moving, raw, dramatic acting to the screen. In our interview, he dives deep into how the film balances these massive fights with the grounded, heartbreaking motivation of a desperate father.
