Ahead of the film’s July 14th Blu-ray debut, I got to sit down and talk shop with Obsession star Cooper Tomlinson. Whether you recognize him from the monolith that is Dutton Ranch or as Ian, the ultimate voice of reason/best friend of Bear in Obsession, Cooper is currently riding the wave of a certified cultural phenomenon. Naturally, we spent our time dissecting Curry Barker’s masterpiece—a film I confidently called the undisputed horror event of 2026 in my review.
For those who haven’t pressed play yet, the premise is a masterclass in “be careful what you wish for.” Bear is a lonely music store clerk who decides to bypass traditional dating by using a mysterious trinket known as the “One Wish Willow” (which you can totally buy here if you’re feeling reckless). He asks to win his crush’s heart. He gets his wish. But instead of a happily-ever-after, he unleashes a wave of nightmare-fueled psychological warfare. Because when you try to cheat cosmic consent, the supernatural interest rates are devastating.
Obsession is out right now on all major digital platforms and is heading to Blu-ray and 4K this July. My advice? Skip supper, double-check your deadbolts, hug your cat, and brace your psyche for a wild ride.
Take a look at the interview below to see what Cooper had to say about making the movie, and what we can expect from his next collaboration with Barker, the upcoming feature Anything But Ghosts.
