Just when you thought it was safe to step back into the produce aisle, the most deadly fruit in cinema history is rolling back into town.
After more than three decades rotting in the vault, the cult-classic horror-comedy franchise is officially back. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence is rolling your way. Fresh off the vine, the movie has unleashed its brand-new poster alongside a massive announcement: the tomatoes are invading theaters this August.
But before they stomp across the country, the killer fruits are heading home. A special presentation is locked in for San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 24, at 7:15 PM in Room 6A, where lucky attendees will witness the world premiere of the movie’s first official trailer.
The Theatrical Rollout
However, if you can’t make it to SDCC, you won’t have to wait long to catch the juicy carnage on the big screen. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence will slash its way into select cities across the U.S. beginning August 7, 2026.
Silicon Valley vs. The Salad Bar
This new chapter pits the eternal power of nature against Silicon Valley’s best and brightest. The story follows a young biotech prodigy who develops a revolutionary, genetically engineered super-vegetable designed to solve humanity’s greatest crises. Naturally, the experiment spirals spectacularly out of control, giving rise to a brand-new generation of hyper-intelligent, bloodthirsty killer tomatoes.
The screenplay comes courtesy of the original franchise co-creators, Costa Dillon and J. Stephen Peace, ensuring the series’ signature offbeat camp humor remains perfectly intact. David Ferino steps behind the camera to direct.
Professor Gangreen and a Stacked Cast
In true B-movie fashion, the ensemble cast features an incredible mix of franchise legends, horror icons, and comedy veterans. John Astin (The Addams) will reprise his legendary role as the mad scientist, Professor Gangreen. David Koechner (Anchorman) plays the U.S. President’s Press Secretary. The impressive cast list also includes Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier), and Dan Bakkedahl (Veep). The cast is rounded out by Myrna Velasco, Vernée Watson, and Paul Bates.
The Tomato Timeline
For those keeping track at home, the red menace has a long and storied history. Organic Intelligence marks the first feature film since the early ’90s. It all started with Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (1978). It was followed by Return of the Killer Tomatoes in 1988 and featured a young George Clooney. Next came Killer Tomatoes Strike Back (1991), then Killer Tomatoes Eat France (1992), and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: The Animated Series (1990).
Check out the official poster below, keep your eyes peeled for the SDCC trailer drop, and remember: eat them before they eat you.
