The horror-comedy feature Pay to Die, directed by Shawn C. Phillips and Lauren Francesca, has officially launched on Amazon and Fandango at Home courtesy of distributor BayView Entertainment.

Skewering modern crowdfunding culture and the chaos of independent filmmaking, the story follows a struggling commercial director who launches a Kickstarter-style campaign to fund his dream slasher movie. Once production begins, the line between cinematic fiction and real-life bloodshed vanishes. Fame-obsessed actors, washed-up icons, frantic fans, and lethal opportunists unleash a nightmare.

A Nostalgic Ensemble and a Final Screen Legacy

The feature stands out for its eclectic cult cast. It marks one of Robert Carradine’s final screen appearances (Nerds, The Cowboys). He plays a police officer investigating the murders. Former Saturday Night Live star and MADtv cast member Jeff Richards also stars. They are joined by genre favorites and familiar pop-culture figures, including Bai Ling, James Duval, Ken Davitian, Angel Salazar, Joe Estevez, Robert Miano, Lorelei Linklater, and Kato Kaelin.

Creative Minds Behind the Chaos

In addition to leading the film, Jeff Richards co-produced Pay to Die. He contributed to its original soundtrack, adding another layer to a career that recently saw his “Buttered Sausage” podcast segment generate tens of millions of viral memes. Meanwhile, the directorial duo of Phillips and Francesca build upon their growing footprint in indie horror. Following their collaboration on the holiday slasher Mistletoe Massacre and Phillips’ feature Desert Fiends, Pay to Die presents their sharpest mix of bloodsplash horror and Hollywood parody yet.

Where to Watch the Horror-Comedy Today

Moviegoers looking for a bloody, satirical spin on lower-budget moviemaking do not have to wait. Pay to Die is available to stream and purchase right now across digital platforms, including Amazon and Fandango at Home.
