The statement “If Daryl Dies We Riot” is one every Walking Dead fan has heard. The quote is on memes, shirts, decals, bracelets, mugs and hats. Even Hot Topic has a line of merchandise boasting the threat.
When questioned at the recent San Diego Comic-Con by Comic Book Resources asked the man himself, Norman Reedus, about the statement and he had this to say:
“I like a good riot. I remember the LA riots, and I was like, “Why don’t we get the DMV? Let’s take down the DMV. Why are we taking down this store? Who needs a TV? Let’s burn the DMV!” Comic Book Resources asked “So, if Daryl dies, you would prefer your fans specifically riot the DMV?” and Norman responded “Just go straight to the DMV, yeah. Take out all your anger at the DMV.”
Let’s face it, the DMV is a slow ride to hell, but if Daryl does die on ‘The Walking Dead’, I wouldn’t recommend rioting, unless you’re prepared to do some time behind bars.
