Anchor Bay and Graviyas Ventures have announced the upcoming release of ‘Always Watching: A Marble Hornets Story’. The film is directed by James Moran, who also directed ‘Paranormal Activity 4’ and ‘Ouija’. ‘Always Watching’ is based on the ‘Marble Hornets’ YouTube series by Joseph DeLage. The film’s screen play was written by Ian Shorr, who also wrote the script for the 2008’s horror movie ‘Splinter’. Shorr also served as a writer for the series ‘Destination Truth’.
The cast of this found-footage film includes ‘The Walking Dead’s’ Alexandra Breckenridge, Jake McDorman (Greek) and Chris Marquette (Freddy vs. Jason). Doug Jones, who has starred in such films as ‘Hellboy’ and ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’, plays the role of the dark entity, “The Operator” aka Slender Man.
In the film a small town news team, investigating a news story, the team stumbles across a box of home made video tapes. In the footage they discover a faceless man in a dark suit, referred to as “The Operator”, who stalking the family that was the subject of their news story, but this dark entity is no average man. They soon learn that the mysterious figure can only be seen through a camera. The news team has now become the focus of the entity and the torment is slowly driving the three friends insane.
‘Always Watching’ takes advantage of the horror legend of “Slender Man”, an entity that in the recent years drawn new attention, yet is rarely explored. The concept behind the film is a fresh and interesting. Normally. I am not a fan of found-footage films, but it works for ‘Always Watching’. I’ll be honest, I did not see the ending coming, which is a good thing. Over all ‘Always Watching: A Marble Hornets Story’ is unique, suspenseful and worth watching.
‘Always Watching: A Marble Hornets Story’ will be out on DVD on August 4, 2015.
