The Last Voyage of the Demeter sailed into theaters this past summer. You can bring home your copy of the Collector’s Edition, a “must-have” for any collection, now on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital, and VOD.
Directed by André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe), the film is based on a single chilling chapter, “The Captain’s Log,” from Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula, and tells the terrifying story of the merchant ship Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo—fifty unmarked wooden crates—from Carpathia to London.
The Last Voyage also stars Corey Hawkins (In the Heights, Straight Outta Compton) as Clemens, a doctor who joins the Demeter crew, and Aisling Franciosi (Game of Thrones, The Nightingale) as an unwitting stowaway. Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones, Clash of the Titans) as the ship’s captain, and David Dastmalchian (Dune, the Ant-Man franchise) as the ship’s first mate. Javier Botet stars as Dracula.
In our spoiler-free review, we called it “nightmare-inducing and brutal.” Unfortunately, the movie didn’t get the love it deserved in theaters because it had the misfortune of being released during the reign of Barbie and Oppenheimer. Hopefully, it will find its audience now.
We had the pleasure of interviewing the film’s Production designer, Edward Thomas, and its lead special effects makeup artist, Göran Lundström. The two gave us unique insight into what it takes to make a film like this. We urge you to check out the interviews.
The Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital copies feature a ton of bonus features, including an alternative ending and deleted scenes.
