If you’ve ever wondered what happens when the most famous “Final Girls” in cinema history stop running and start directing? The Horror Collective has the answer. The distributor has officially nabbed the worldwide rights to Last Chance Motel, a high-concept slasher that is less of a movie and more of a “Horror Avengers” assembly.

Parent company Studio Dome is currently introducing the film to international buyers at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where it’s screening as part of the prestigious Fantastic Galas.

The Ultimate Final Girl Crossover

This isn’t just another desert slasher; it’s a multi-generational summit of horror icons. Directed, written by, and starring Danielle Harris (Halloween 4, 5, and the Rob Zombie entries) and Scout Taylor-Compton (Laurie Strode in Zombie’s Halloween), the film unites three eras of survival:

Heather Langenkamp, the original Nancy Thompson who survived Freddy Krueger, joins the fray. Monica Keena (Freddy vs. Jason), Shane West (Salem), and Sierra McCormick (The Vast of Night) also star. There’s also Robert Allen Mukes, the towering Rufus Firefly from House of 1000 Corpses.

The Plot: A 1-Star Yelp Review in the Making

The story follows a pair of newlyweds who decide a secluded motel in the Nevada desert is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. Spoiler alert: It isn’t. They quickly discover the venue is run by a “relentless, bloodthirsty family” with dark secrets—which, in the Nevada desert, is practically a zoning requirement.

Expect a pulse-pounding psychological thriller. It pays homage to the grimy slashers of the 70s and 80s while injecting a modern, character-driven twist.

From the Directors’ Chair

After forty combined years of being chased by masked killers, Harris and Taylor-Compton decided it was time to hold the camera.

“We knew exactly what kind of film the genre is missing right now,” says Danielle Harris. “A tight, mean slasher that doesn’t apologize for being horror. We’ve been on the receiving end of the camera for decades—we know what fans actually want to see.”

Scout Taylor-Compton adds, “Danger can hide in the most ordinary places. Danielle and I poured everything into this—as producers, directors, and performers. It’s a film that stays with you.”

The Business of Blood

The film is positioned to capitalize on the “contained location” horror trend that made hits out of Barbarian and X. It was developed by Talk Scary Productions and Hillin Entertainment. It’s leveraging the massive fanbase of Harris and Taylor-Compton’s popular Talk Scary to Me podcast.

For those looking to stream the carnage, Last Chance Motel is a crown jewel for BloodStream, the newly launched streaming service. One that is dedicated to independent horror and sci-fi. We’ll update you as soon as the release date is announced.
