Paul Gerrard and Mike Clarke, the creative force behind A Light Through Colored Glass and Semolina Pilchard, make a formidable leap into feature-length filmmaking with The Stranger. This ambitious directorial debut merges the claustrophobic dread of a traditional home invasion story with unpredictable, supernatural horror.

An Unsettling Narrative of Grief and Intrusion

The story centers on Amanda, played by Jennifer K. Preston (The Wheel of Time, Hosts), and her daughter Karli (Isabella Percival, He Kills at Night). Left shattered after a violent robbery ends in the brutal murder of her husband, the grief-stricken mother and daughter attempt to rebuild their shattered lives. Seeking refuge from their trauma, they relocate to a remote bed and breakfast deep within the quiet British countryside.

The Arrival of an Unwelcome Guest

However, the fragile peace is short-lived. They are interrupted by the unexpected appearance of Kyle, an enigmatic visitor played by Damien Ashley (Semolina Pilchard). A single evening quickly devolves into something far more insidious. As the hours pass, Kyle’s explanations continually shift, exposing glaring contradictions in his story. However, his reluctance to leave grows stronger with each passing day. This triggers deep concern in Amanda and Karli as his behavior becomes increasingly unhinged and unpredictable.

A Supernatural Twist Beyond Expectations

The psychological tension reaches a breaking point when the unwelcome guest makes a shocking confession. Kyle claims that he is actively fleeing from a relentless group of supernatural killers who are tracking his every move. This creates a terrifying dilemma. They are left to wonder whether they are dealing with a deeply paranoid scam artist or an unearthly entity stalking their doorstep.

A Tense Blend of Cinematic Genres

Weaving elements of family drama, home-invasion thrillers, and horrific creature-feature lore, The Stranger delivers a constantly escalating sense of dread. The film creates a suffocating atmosphere that keeps viewers guessing until the very end, ensuring this chilling tale lingers long after the final credits roll.

The Stranger lands on UK digital September 14 from Trinity Content Partners.
