Focus Features, Blumhouse, and Atomic Monster have officially locked in a theatrical release date for Anything But Ghosts. It’s the eagerly awaited next project from visionary filmmaker Curry Barker. Set to hit theaters in 2027, the film will be distributed globally by Focus Features, with Universal Pictures International overseeing international markets.
Barker and his longtime creative partner, Cooper Tomlinson, also recently announced that production has begun. Recently, Tomlinson also teased the film and said, “There is so much more to come,” during our Obsession interview, which you can watch now.
An Unhinged Descent Into Paranormal Chaos
Written and directed by Barker alongside co-writer Tomlinson, Anything But Ghosts follows a pair of amateur ghost hunters. Their investigations take a disastrously dark turn. As their latest pursuit spirals out of control, the duo faces terrifying forces far beyond their comprehension. Barker and Tomlinson will also step in front of the camera. They will star as the lead duo. They are joined by a stellar ensemble cast, including Violet McGraw, Chris Reinacher, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Aaron Paul.
The Next Chapter From Horror’s Newest Mastermind
Following the record-breaking success of his viral phenomenon Obsession, Barker’s latest feature marks another bold, original event engineered specifically for the big screen. The project reunites the proven team at Focus Features and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, bringing together industry titan Jason Blum alongside producers Roy Lee and Steven Schneider of Spooky Pictures. Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath of Divide/Conquer will produce in association with Image Nation and That’s a Bad Idea. Executive producers include Daniel Bekerman, Curry Barker, Cooper Tomlinson, and Ben Ross.
Focus Features Prepares a Stacked Slate
The announcement further cements an ambitious theatrical slate for Focus Features heading into 2026 and beyond. Alongside Barker’s upcoming project, the studio’s lineup also includes Robert Eggers’ highly anticipated Werwulf. It also includes Simon Stone’s Elsinore, Georgia Oakley’s reimagining of Sense and Sensibility, and Sarah Polley’s The Bell Jar, featuring Billie Eilish in her feature film debut.
