Star Kingston Rumi Southwick Tackles A Haunting New Feature
As viewers eagerly await new episodes, key cast members are expanding their horizons with exciting new projects. Star Kingston Rumi Southwick will headline the upcoming film Henry’s Ebb. The project marks writer and director Thomas Mendolia’s feature directorial debut.
The film’s impressive ensemble also includes Banks Repeta (The Black Phone), Ashley Shelton, Will Holland, Rebecca Koon, and Austin Willard. A captivating first-look image has already been released to generate early buzz among genre fans.
A Dark Coming-of-Age Tale Driven by Psychological Dread
The story follows young Henry, who relies heavily on his fearless companion named Ebb. However, Ebb is actually an imaginary friend Henry created to survive a very traumatic childhood. Through years of family turmoil, Ebb protected him while gradually exerting a sinister, controlling influence. When Henry runs away to search for his estranged father, Ebb tags along on the road trip. As a result, their journey through the American South slowly shifts from an innocent adventure into a terrifying nightmare.
Deeply Personal Origins and Festival World Premiere
The project holds profound personal significance for Mendolia, who drew direct inspiration from his upbringing in Elkin, North Carolina. In fact, the filmmaker shot the entire movie on location, using actual sites from his childhood memories. Mendolia noted that the town represents both magic and pain, perfectly reflecting the dual tone of his narrative. Ultimately, the haunting coming-of-age thriller will officially debut at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival this November.
