Disney’s Andscape has just dropped the trailer and poster for the mind-bending, dark psychological thriller The Man in My Basement, and it looks incredible. With a fantastic cast including Corey Hawkins, Willem Dafoe, and Anna Diop, this film is set to have its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which begins on September 4!
A Haunting Tale
Based on the acclaimed novel by Walter Mosley, the story follows Charles Blakey (Corey Hawkins), a man down on his luck and on the brink of losing his family’s ancestral home in Sag Harbor, New York. Everything changes with a mysterious knock on the door from a businessman named Anniston Bennet (Willem Dafoe). Bennet makes an offer: rent out his basement for the summer and get enough cash to clear all his debts.
Of course, Charles takes the deal. But this simple agreement leads him down a terrifying path, forcing him to confront his family’s ghosts. The men are locked in a chilling puzzle where the source of their trauma and the root of all evil is at the heart of it all.
