Most of you remember the 2007 film ‘The Mist’ directed by Frank Darabont and starring Thomas Jane, which was based on Stephen King’s novella about a mysterious mist that crept across a small town and the strange beasts in the mist that made meals out of the unfortunate residents that ventured outside.
Deadline announced the news this afternoon that The Weinstein Company and Dimension Television are banding together to develop a television series based on ‘The Mist’, reportedly with the blessing of Stephen King. The series will be written by Christian Torpe, The series will tell an original story about a mist that creeps into a small town and unleashes havoc and psychological terror as the residents fight to survive the supernatural things inside the mist and each other.
Bob Weinstein,co-chairman of The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films was quoted as saying “The terror and drama in Stephen King’s novella are so vast that we felt serialized television is the best place to explore them in greater depth. With this show, Christian has created a fascinating band of characters and a story with infinite scares.”
