The Duffer Brothers might be closing the book on Stranger Things, but they clearly aren’t finished raising our collective blood pressure. They are executive producing Netflix‘s new series “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen,” and it’s enough to make even the happiest couples consider an elopement to a safe room.

Forget cold feet; we’re looking at a literal wedding from hell. Here is the lowdown on the eight-episode nightmare that will make you want to stay single forever.

“Till Death Do Us Part” (No, Seriously)

If Carrie explored the horror of puberty and Rosemary’s Baby captured the dread of pregnancy, this series is the definitive guide to the existential terror of becoming a wife.

So what’s it about? Rachel (Camila Morrone) and her fiancé Nicky (Adam DiMarco) escape to a secluded, snowy forest for their dream wedding. They’ve got a five-day countdown to the ceremony, but things go south faster than a bouquet toss in a hurricane. Between eerie “coincidences,” mounting paranoia, and a creeping supernatural rot, Rachel begins to realize that a “lifelong commitment” might be far more literal than she bargained for.

A Killer Guest List

The casting department clearly understood the assignment, filling the pews with some serious horror-and-thriller royalty. Jennifer Jason Leigh (Single White Female) and Ted Levine (Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs) star alongside Jeff Wilbusch, Karla Crome, Gus Birney, and Sawyer Fraser. Camila Morrone leads the cast as the bride, and she is absolutely fantastic!

The Creator

The series is steered by creator Haley Z. Boston (Brand New Cherry Flavor, Cabinet of Curiosities), who reportedly took her mother’s advice to “never marry the wrong person” and dialed the stakes up to a full-blown psychological slasher.

Behind the lens, the production has tapped a powerhouse lineup of directors, including Weronika Tofilska ( Baby Reindeer), Axelle Carolyn, and Lisa Brühlmann.

The Verdict: Better Than a Trip to Hawkins

I’m going to be completely honest: I enjoyed this more than the last three seasons of “Stranger Things.” It’s got everything: emotion, drama, and one hell of a curse.

The show is a total home run that relies on three key pillars:

Suffocating Isolation: The snowy forest setting makes the dread feel inescapable.

The Big Twist: No spoilers, but I genuinely did not see the finale coming. It subverts the “nervous bride” trope in a way that feels earned and terrifying.

The Tension: It captures that specific, high-stakes anxiety of a wedding and weaponizes it into something supernatural.

The Takeaway:

If you’re a fan of character-driven horror with a sharp, witty edge, “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen is essential viewing. But maybe wait until after you’ve walked down the aisle to hit play.
