We reported earlier this year that a re-imagining of Stephen King’s classic ‘IT’ was in the works. Director Cary Fukunaga has since been replaced by Andy Muschietti (Mama). Variety offered an update earlier this week revealing that the first film in the new two-part series is set to begin filming next summer, one year later than originally planned.
Will Poulter (We Are the Millers) had signed on to play Pennywise when Fukunaga was in charge, but it’s unclear at the moment if he will still play the creepy clown under Muschietti’s direction.
There will be two films in place of King’s one. The first will focus on the group of kids from the original story, tormented by Pennywise. The second will follow the group as adults, returned to their home town, faced with Pennywise’s stalking once again.
