Ben Wheatly, the director behind films such as High-Rise, Kill List, and Free Fire, has made a holiday horror film, Happy New Year, Colin Burstead, in secret.
Happy New Year centers around Neil Maskell‘s character, who rents a lavish country manor for his extended family to celebrate New Year. Unfortunately for Colin, his station in the family is under serious threat from the arrival of his estranged brother David.
Richard Glover, Peter Ferdinando, Neil Maskell, Mark Monero and Sam Riley along with Asim Chaudhry, Joe Cole, Charles Dance, Alexandra Maria Lara, Doon Mackichan, Sinead Matthews, Bill Paterson, and Hayley Squires star. Andy Starke of Rook Films is producing.

Happy New Year, Colin Burstead is set to be released in association with BBC Films and BBC Two and was made under the radar film in the UK, ScreenDaily reports. Set to make its world premiere at BFI London Film Festival, the film will make its rounds in the UK and will feature a live Q&A with Wheatly. Following the limited theatrical release, BBC Two will air the film over the Christmas holiday. It will then arrive on BBC’s streaming services.
