Following Brian Fuller’s (American Gods) exit from Anne Rice‘s upcoming Hulu series “The Vampire Chronicles,” Dee Johnson has stepped in as showrunner and the series is not wasting any time. Filming set to begin this September in Budapest.

The Vampire Chronicles book series began in 1976 and was adapted for the classic 1994 film Interview with the Vampire starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.

Paramount TV and Anonymous scored the rights to the 11 book series that includes The Vampire Lestat and The Queen of the Damned.

Anne Rice, her son Christopher Rice, along with Anonymous’ David Kanter, and Steve Golin will executive produce Hulu’s new series, expected to premiere next year.
