Daniel XIII; the result of an arcane ritual involving a King Diamond album, a box of Count Chocula, and a copy of Swank magazine, is a screenwriter, director, producer, actor, artist, and reviewer of fright flicks…Who hates ya baby?

Joe Badon is an artist extraordinaire who made quite the splash in our beloved horror biz with last year’s festival circuit hit The God Inside My Ear. Recently Joe pulled up a coffin and took a load off in the ol’ Crypt o’ XIII to shoot the sinister shit with your’s cruelly!

Horror Fuel: Could you please describe the diabolical details on what SisterTempest is all about for our revoltin’ readers?

Joe Badon: Sister Tempest is a full length Thriller, Body Horror, Sci Fi, Surrealist, Dark Comedy all wrapped up inside of an art house drama. The basic story revolves around our main character Anne Hutchinson as she is transported unto a spaceship where she is interrogated by a panel of alien judges. These judges ques on Anne about her relationship with her estranged sister Karen, Karen’s boyfriend Chris, and Anne’s mysterious new roommate by the name of Ginger Breadman. This film will have aliens, nazis, vampires, pro-wrestling, giant floating heads, a Godzilla sized astronaut, a cosmic camera crew and bunch of other wacky weirdness!

Horror Fuel: What were your influences in creating the story?

Joe Badon: I’m a huge cine-file,especially weird cinema! So I’m always digging around for weird movies. I had watched Robert Altman’s 3 Women a few years ago and fell in love with it. I wanted to do a similar story, kind of like a more nightmarish version of Single White Female. I had written a basic outline and then put it on the shelf. A couple years go by and I became obsessed with the idea of “a movie within a movie” and also the idea of “breaking the fourth wall”. Those ideas were burning in my gut when I stumbled upon three films in the span of a few weeks that all expressed those themes eloquently: Quentin Dupeax’s Reality, The Monkees’ Head and Sion Sono’s Why Don’t You Play in Hell. I took those influences (plus a few others like Mulholland Drive, Evil Brain From Outer Space, the TV Series Danger 5, The Prisoner, and Legion) and mixed them all into my original plot in order to create a giant amalgam of surrealist insanity.

Horror Fuel: What’s the latest and greatest info on your first putrid picture The God Inside My Ear?

Joe Badon: Well, it comes out on Bluray, DVD, Streaming and Cable VOD on April 9th! But you can also purchase it through our Kickstarter campaign for Sister Tempest!

Horror Fuel: What lessons did you learn while makin’ your first film that will help you this go around?

Joe Badon: I’m going to be delegating duties a little more than I did last me. With my first film, I was doing wardrobe, props, craft services, line producing and trying to direct the film all at the same time! This  time, I’m going spread the responsibility around a bit more!

Horror Fuel: Where can the boils n’ ghouls follow you, and help get SisterTempest made?

Joe Badon: You can go to sistertempest.com – This will take you directly to our Kickstarter where you can throw us a few bones! Also, you can follow us on FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, and TWITTER.

Horror Fuel: Fangs, Joe!
