For most little girls, dolls are a wonderful thing, but some dolls are just plain bad and some dolls serve as conduit for evil spirits. I would like to share some of the true stories surrounding some of the most famous haunted dolls in existence today. Annabelle The story of the doll that inspired the horror film ‘Annabelle’, begins when a mother gives her adult daughter a Raggedy-Ann doll from a shop, in the 1970’s. The daughter, Donna, and her roommate, Angie, began to notice that the doll would change positions while they were out. Believing that the spirit of a little girl, named Annabelle, was haunting them after talking with a medium, they gave the spirit permission to possess the doll. Annabelle began to move from room to room when no one was home and the women began finding notes saying things like “Help Me” and “Miss Me?” all over the house. The Insidious franchise has held it’s own among other paranormal franchises, including the ‘Paranormal Activity’ line. The first ‘Insidious’ was released back in 2010 and has developed a style all it’s own. The latest film, ‘Insidious: Chapter 3′, is now in theaters and out on VOD. Last night I sat down to see for myself if the film stood up to the previous films’ legacy. I should mention now that ‘Chapter 3’ is not a sequel, it’s a prequel to the first film and was written and directed by Leigh Whannell, who also plays the role of Specs in ‘Chapter 3’. As always, our review will NOT spoil the movie’s ending. ‘Chapter 3’ begins when Quinn (Stefanie Scott), a young woman, seeks out Elise, a medium, to help her get in touch with her recently passed mother. Of course, everyone who has seen one of the ‘Insidious’ films will recognize Elise as Lin Shaye. Elise tries to channel Quinn’s mother,

Who would volunteer to move into a home that they know is haunted? The couple in 2015’s horror film ‘Dwelling’ did just that. The couple have moved into the haunted house in hopes of making contact with the other side, but the entity they make contact with may be much darker and more powerful than they bargained for. The spirit is hell-bent on destroying the family. ‘Dwelling’ was both written and directed by Kyle Mecca. This paranormal thriller is Mecca’s first full length film, which will be out later this year. The cast includes ‘Ray Donavan’ actress Erin Marie Hogan, Mu-Shaka Benson (Half Dead), Josie DiVincenzo (Daredevil), Bill Brown (A Grimm Becoming), ‘Truth or Dare’s’ Devanny Pinn and newcomers Abigail Mary and Alexandra Merritt Mathews.

The house is covered in lights that, are you ready for this, are programmed in sinc with the themed music that is blared over speakers. The light show is so incredible that year after year, videos of the home, owned by a Verizon employee named Kevin Judd, goes viral. If you’re wondering how long it takes to create such a display, Judd has commented that it takes fifteen hours to program each minute of the light show, not counting the hours it takes to put up the lights. It’s well worth it, thousands of people drive from all over to see the show. The videos of the home get more than a million hits each year. You can find the videos on YouTube, where Judd simply goes by KJ92508. Here

On Friday, October 9th, BBQ Films threw one big bloody party, no, I actually mean a bloody party. The party was a recreation of the night club scene from Blade. You know the one, where blood rains down on the dance floor, of course the rave’s blood was synthetic. The event was music was provided by several DJs, including The Crystal Method, Pictureplane and others, it also featured live performances and took place at Terminal 5 in Manhattan. The event also held a screening of, you guessed it, ‘Blade’. Scenes from the film were even acted out on stage during the show. Of course it was fitting that some of the price of each ticket was donated to the American Red Cross. If you ask me, it looks like it was one killer party.
