Today we have a new official still at Zac Efron as infamous serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shocking Evil and Vile. The image was released as part of the announcement that the film will make its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this January. Directed by Joe Berlinger and written by Michael Werwie, Extremely Wicked chronicles the crimes of Ted Bundy through the eyes of his girlfriend Elizabeth, played by Lily Collins. In real life, “Liz” refused to believe that her boyfriend sexually assaulted and murdered women during the 1970s. Bundy, who was described as charismatic and handsome, confessed to killing thirty women. John Malkovich, Haley Joel Osment, Kaya Scodelario, Jeffrey Donovan, Jim Parsons, Angela Sarafyan, Terry Kinney, Metallica’s frontman James Hetfield, and Dylan Baker also star.

Video Games and Cons for charity? YES! The first ever Grubby Games Convention (GG Con) will be held at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology this weekend (November 3-4) to raise money for Regional Health’s Children’s Miracle Network. The acronym for the con is quite fitting, in the gaming world (especially in multiplayer games) typing “GG” in the game’s chat or saying “GG” in voice chat means “Good Game” and is commonly said by all players to either show there are no hard feelings towards their opponents OR that they really enjoyed the game. The highlight of the event is the “League of Legends” state championship 24-hour game-a-thon being held in the Frasier Gymnasium in the King Center starting at 3 PM Saturday and ending at 3 PM Sunday. The championship is between SD Mines (who’s hosting the event), South Dakota State University, Dakota State University, and Black Hills State University. Along with the main event being the

This year marks the 15 Second Horror Film Challenge‘s fourth year of bringing short films to genre fans. And they are ready to deliver spooky and frightening short flicks for their Halloween showcase which includes over 500 entries from around the world. From November to December they have two-judge panels, featuring 40 celebrity judges, to determine the top films and who will take home awards in a variety of categories. Recently, I was scrolling down my Facebook feed and came across a music video that caught my attention. The video had a real Tim Burton feel and a unique sound. I decided I had to track down the musician, Tommy Spase, hear more of his music and find out more about him. I reached out to Tommy and he sat down with me for an interview. Horror Fuel: “How long have you been with the band?” Tommy Spase: “The first incarnation of the band was about seven years ago. We played around LA for a while until a couple of members left and we got a couple more. That was over the course of like six years. I had been working on a children’s show but decided to get back into the music side of it. That’s how that video came across your news feed. Taika Waititi and Jermaine Clement‘s 2014 horror-comedy What We Do in the Shadows was an instant hit. Now, their two new spinoff series are headed our way and we can’t wait to sink our teeth into them. The “What We Do in the Shadows” 10-episode series is set to premiere next Spring on FX, but first it’s coming to NYCC next month, on Sunday, October 7th to be exact. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with executive producers Clement, Waititi and Paul Simms. The series, set in Staten Island. “What We Do in the Shadows” follows three vampires who have been roommates for hundreds and hundreds of years. The other spinoff, titled “Wellington Paranormal“, which follows the police officers we met in the film played by Mike Minogue and Karen O’Leary. Nick (Cori Gonzalez-Macuer) will also be featured in the series as the duo struggles to protect Wellington safe from supernatural forces.

Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for thriller, suspense, and horror has announced its killer lineup of originally produced and acquired films and series to be featured at this year’s Fantastic Fest, held in Austin, Texas, from September 20–27. The centerpiece of Shudder’s Fantastic Fest programming is the world premiere of all eight episodes of audiophile nightmare Deadwax, an original short-form series starring Hannah Gross (Mindhunter) and Evan Gamble (Hap & Leonard), created by Graham Reznick (I Can See You, PS4’s Until Dawn) and executive produced by Reznick and Peter Phok (The House of the Devil, Stake Land). The 8-episode series is slated to premiere on Shudder later this year. Today IFC Midnight announced that it has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to Emma Tammi‘s haunting western The Wind. Produced by Soapbox Films and Dive/Conquer, The Wind made its World Premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival to an excited crowd and will screen at Fantastic Fest this weekend. “Director Emma Tammi and writer Teresa Sutherland have embarked on a nightmarish yet empathetic exploration of domestic solitude, skillfully conjuring — in bone-chilling visual and sonic strokes — an indescribable specter that seems to emanate from the abyss of the night itself. Streaming genre service Shudder has announced that Graham Reznick‘s killer series Deadwax will be making its World Premiere at the Fantastic Fest in Texas. Reznick who served as the sound designer on several films such as Stakeland and The Sacrament before becoming a filmmaker. “In the series, which will premiere in its entirety, “A young woman (Hannah Gross) is pulled into a murder investigation revolving around a curious vinyl record which has driven those who possess it mad, and killed anyone who dared to listen to it.“ The film takes cues from the urban legends about backmasking, that’s when a record is played in reverse and a message is revealed.
